Direct Communication

House Air waybill
A document issued by a consolidator for instructions to the break bulk agent. Always attached to Master Air Waybill.

Master Air waybill
A document describing goods to be transported by multiple airlines, usually internationally. The first airline issues a waybill to prove that the goods have been received and are ready for transport.

Standardized document for cross-border transport of cargo by road, based on UN recommendations for uniform international rules and in force in the European Union. CMR stands for ‘Convention relative au contrat de transport international de Marchandises par route,’ the French name for the convention that governs its definitions and application.

ATA carnet
International customs document for temporary duty free import of certain goods (for a specific period, usually 12 months), without posting a bond for the assessed duty. It is generally used to import sales promotion literature, inexpensive samples for distribution, designs and works of art for exhibition, and machinery and equipment for display or demonstration. A combination of French and English terms, (admission temporair/temporary admission) it is issued by local chambers of commerce affiliated to the International Chambers Of Commerce (ICC). Local chambers guarantee payment of customs duties in case goods allowed under ATA Carnet are not re-exported on due date. Most, but not all, countries accept ATA Carnet. Also called ‘a temporary admission.’

Courier Consignment Note
A document which normally accompanies express shipments showing the origin and destination of the shipment and details of the goods enclosed within the shipment.

An EX1 is the export clearance document used by EU member states for exports to third country markets. In the UK, it is commonly known as the C88 or SAD (Single Administrative Document).

The application of this form is based on application of various bi- and multilateral agreements within the Pan-European preference system (the European Union Association Agreement)

The ATR Certificate is a customs document used in trade between EU members and Turkey, to benefit from cheaper rates of duty.
